Little Live Pet Flutter Wings Butterfly Review

Ruby's at the age now where she wants to have a pet of her own, and I'm at the age where I know she won't want to do all the associated work that comes with it like cleaning out and feeding!

Little Live Pets are a great compromise allowing her to have the interaction of a pet, without the chores.  We already have a Little Live Pet bird, and recently we were sent a butterfly to test out.  This is great timing as part of her Key Stage 1 learning in school this term is mini-beasts so she's becoming a little obsessed with butterflies.

Little Live Pet Butterflies from Character Online retail at £9.99 and there are a variety of different designs to choose from.  This vibrantly coloured one is called Tropical Beauty, but mini Frozen fans will love the new series 2 Frozen Iceland.

Each butterfly comes complete with a docking charger which is shaped like a flower - the butterfly takes it's 'nectar' from the flower to get it's energy and them will magically flap and flutter it's wings.  The charger requires 2 AA batteries which are not included.

Ruby loves to hold the fluttering butterfly in her hand and there's also a suction cup which you can stick to the window to hold it an display your collection - how pretty would a host of butterflies look sitting on the window?

See the butterfly fluttering in this video.

Disclosure: We were sent the toy for the purposes of this review.

  2. Oh this would freak me out. I am terrified of butterflies! I know odd, but we went to butterfly world with the school when I was little and they kept flying at me!

  3. The girls asked for a Flutterby Fairy at christmas but they freaked out when it started flying and never played with it again! I thought it was really sweet and these butterflies look gorgeous too but maybe not for all kids.

    1. Oh no what a shame! These are small enough to fit into your hand so not scary at all I don't think.

  4. Ooh I am not very good with toy insects. The boy has a mechanical spider that freaks me out completely...this is very pretty though!

  10. Very different type of toy, also a nice, cheap way of getting children used to pets, with none of the hard work that goes hand in hand of an actual pet. Its very pretty too.
