A stop snoring cure and a giveaway!

Writing a blog it's easy to fall into the 'over-sharing' trap, so I shall try and keep myself in check and not reveal too much of what goes on in our bedroom.  Whether that's because it's too dull it will send you to sleep, or too racy for a family blog I shall leave you to ponder...

The one thing that DOES go on in our bedroom is snoring.  Lots of it.  Big loud wall-shaking snoring.

Not by me I hasten to add.

But it's a big problem.  Sharing a bed for ten years with a snorer takes it's toll.  It affects the quality of my sleep and anyone who's suffered sleep deprivation will tell you it's not good for your mental and physical well being, it affects concentration and moods and therefore impacts of family life and relationships.

A survey carried out by the British Snoring and Sleep Apnoea Association* showed that 40% of the people in England snore.  It can affect all ages although it's more common in people between 40 and 60.  Twice as many men than women snore.

We have previously tried some remedies (nasal strips, throat sprays etc) but they had no affect whatsoever.

When Good Night Snoring got in touch and asked if we'd like to try their anti snoring ring, I was both keen to try it, but dubious that it would be effective.

Snoring cure

But we gave it a go.  Basically the product is a ring, worn on the little finger.  It works on the theory of acupressure applying gentle pressure to two points on the finger.

Good Night Stop Snoring acupressure ring

The first few nights I noticed absolutely no difference at all, but it's suggested you wear the ring every night as it can take generally 5-10 days for it to become effective.

And do you know what?  It actually works.  I still can't really believe it, as I'm fairly sceptical about holistic type therapies, but it truly has worked for us.  Even when he's sleeping flat on his back (usually a sure fire guarantee for noisy snoring) he's quiet.

Now, I can't promise this will work for everyone.  I know a few people who have tried it and it's worked like a dream for some, but not for others.

But I will say, they offer a full money-back guarantee so you've got nothing to lose by giving it a try.

The ring is available from Boots, local chemists and online at around £30.

* The acupressure ring is not suitable for children, pregnant women or those suffering from sleep apnoea.
* If in doubt seek medical advice before using.

  29. It would be for my husband, he takes a lot of medication at bedtime (some with sedative effect) and snores frequently as a result where he rarely did before. I think it would be a medium but I'd have to check that next time we are near a jewellers as he doesn't wear rings as a rule. (Rafflecopter entries in my real name Nikki Hayes)

  49. Some ex-snorers swear by the power of essential oils to cure snoring.

If you’re willing to do whatever it takes to stop snoring, this is another avenue for you to try. You could see a holistic doctor and give essential oils a try.

Here are some essential oils that can help.

Peppermint: relieves nose and throat congestion
    Goldenseal: relieves chest congestion
Fenugreek: fights OSA and digestion issues that cause snoring
    Eucalyptus: relieves all air passages

You can use essential oils in a diffuser with water. Some brands of oils can be applied to your skin, added to drinks, or sprayed directly onto your bed.

Always check if the brand requires a carrier oil. Also, make sure it’s high enough quality to consume.

Make sure you’re getting enough vitamin C in your diet. Congestion in your nose and throat are made worse by colds and sinus infections. Vitamin C promotes a strong immune system.
