The styling and the detail was beautiful, and it gave me a great head start about themes and trends for this year. So what did I glimpse?
Red and white galore! Lots of Nordic styling; clean bright whites; woodland themes and a very definite home-spun feel. I spent a lot of time thinking "oooh I wonder if I could make that" but the great thing is that even if you're not crafty, you can still get this homemade vibe with their decorations and accessories.
A lot of the styling had a 'repurposing' theme, with household items and even food being used for a different purpose. I adored the giant meringue 'trees' and on closer inspection found they were simply meringue swirls held onto a polystyrene base with a pretty pearly pin - I could definitely do this on a smaller scale, just think what a stunning and edible table centrepiece this would make. I'll also be filling up my trolley in the biscuit aisle and having a go at these houses - gingerbread houses are SO last year darling. Again, these looked hugely impressive and in reality were just glue-gunned onto a cardboard box structure.
The homemade vibe carried on in the food section too and I really loved all these kits and sets. It means those without the time/patience/skill/equipment to make impressive sweet treats, can take a few shortcuts and still produce something to call your own and instill a sense of pride. The Belgian chocolate truffle kit went straight on my list!
The home-maker theme continues through the gift ranges too, and I for one would love to receive one of these. The cookie tins and homemade stampers are gorgeous, and I was swooning over these kitchen gadgets - a waffle stick maker and a brownie maker. Think sandwich makers, but with the temptation of delicious sweet treats.
So what do you make of this year's Christmas trends? Anything here take your fancy?
