Camping matches - keep them dry in this DIY jar

There's nothing worse than a soggy match that won't get your campfire started, so keep your matches dry in style with this easy jam jar make.  A cute and thrifty gift for a canvas-loving friend too.

You will need:

  • One clean, dry jam jar with lid
  • Sandpaper
  • Glue or double-sided tape
  • Box of Swan Vesta type matches
  • Label/lid cover for prettifying

Cut out a circle of sandpaper to fit the inside of your jar lid and secure in place with glue or double-sided tape.

Design and print out a label for your jar, or use one of mine below.

Fill with matches, secure lid and voila!

Happy glamping.

  4. Matches can also be lightly dipped in clear finger nail polish. That will help keep them dry and ready to light any time.
