Orchard Toys - Alphabet Lotto
When we were offered the chance to review Alphabet Lotto by Orchard Toys I hoped that Ruby would be able to play with it now, but honestly thought it would be one of those games that she'd enjoy more in maybe a years time.
Ruby is not quite 3 yet, but as I was popping the card out from the packaging, she was already picking them up with glee, exclaiming things like 'B for Balloon' and 'U for Umbrella'.
We haven't really spent much time consciously learning letters, but we have foam letters in the bath and we spend a lot of time looking at books. Frankly I was amazed at how much she'd soaked up!
Alphabet Lotto will support her phonics learning later at nursery and then at school - not only does it teach letters, but sounds too, so we're practicing 'ch', 'wh' and 'sh' now.
The game is suitable from age 3 upwards and can be played by 2-5 people - although Ruby also quite enjoys just matching the letters by herself! There are 4 different ways to play which is great because the variation will help keep her interested for a long time to come.
Although the boards and squares are cardboard, they are great quality, and I suspect this game will hold up well to the terrors of a toddler. The bright, fun pictures capture her interest, and she will often suggest we play with this game over other toys.
Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality and durability. We'll be adding more Orchard Games to her birthday list!
This game retails at £9.25 online from Orchard Toys.
This is a sponsored post. I was sent the game free of charge for the purpose of this review. I recieved no other compensation, and any opinions expressed are my own and are accurate and honest.
I love Orchard Toys - they are great for 'learning through play' (is there any other way?) Some of our favourite's are Spotty Dogs, Tummy Ache and Shopping List.
ReplyDeleteoh thanks for those recommendations - I'll add them to her list! x
