I bought these delightful little charmers a while ago at a car boot sale, and as it's nearly Halloween I thought I'd share them with you.
Freakishly lovely? I seem to be compelled by an overwhelming attraction to the macabre - my shelf of horrors being a case in point - it must be a hangover from my goth days. So when I spotted these I couldn't let them end up on the dump.
I still haven't quite figured out where they are going to live. My daughter's a bit disturbed by them so they can't go in her room. They may well end up in the garden (judging by the state of them I think this is where the previous owner kept them), but for this season they can come out to play with the cobwebs, witches and pumpkins.
Who knows, they may yet start to produce tears and make me rich and famous.
What do you think...too weird?
What have you rescued lately? Grab my badge and link up your second-hand finds.
I totally love them! I would have been thrilled if I'd spotted those at a booty! Lovely find x
ReplyDeleteHoorah!
DeleteMmm, I'm not quite sure...something sad and melancholy about them...+ slightly spooky! Garden would work though? Are they old, or just a bit weather worn? x
ReplyDeleteThey are a bit creep I'll give you that!
DeleteNot sure about them to be honest, they're certainly weather-worn, but I think they are also fairly old. There's a number inscribed on the back which looks old fashioned. I don't even know what they are made of, it looks like a cross between concrete and plaster of paris.
They are just the kind of thing I like. I find them charming, not spooky at all. If they must go into the garden, make it a "secret garden." Then your daughter might like them. Hugs from Linda@Wetcreek Blig
ReplyDeleteOh she'd love a secret garden, thanks Linda x
Deleteblog,,,,My fingers are useless! Linda
DeleteGreat textures and contrasts.

There is something very interesting about them isn't there?
DeleteLove the look of age.
ReplyDeleteDenise
Thanks Denise x
DeleteThey definitely are interesting! I think they would actually be perfect tucked in the garden.
ReplyDeleteHaha, very diplomatic :0) x
DeleteI'm not entirely sure :) Perhaps quite cool in a little corner of a secret garden or something?
ReplyDeleteHehe they are a bit freaky huh? x
DeleteHave definately come from a strict and somber household. A very serious pair. Must study, no fun till after all the work is done! Thanks for hosting. My schedule has changed a bit, now posting a bit later in the day, always hoping to catch the tail end of Magpie Monday :)
ReplyDeleteI have a pair of similar bookends but mine haven't got the 'creepy' aged patina. I think they are lovely, not weird at all.
ReplyDeleteoh I love those, i think they are creepy but in a good way. I would keep them in the house, they look like perfect keepers of books
